We have both books. They both have a lot of helpful information. The recipes are great and the food is very tasty ... The only problem is that although the recipes tell you how servings in a recipe it doesn't tell you what the serving SIZE is. The only way to find out is that if it says serves 4 then you must divide up the finished product into 4ths and measure what 1/4 th is. Example: 1 cup, 1/2 cup, etc. I'm really surprised to find that information has not been included in the book. At least most store bought food products have the Nutritional Value on them ... Including Serving Size. Oh well .....
My husband's physician suggested trying a renal diet to clear up some issues. I dreaded it because after looking on the internet, each website contradicted each other. I was more baffled than ever. Found the books online, ordered them immediately, got them within days and life is good! They contain a plethora of information on renal diet management. The recipes are plentiful, delicious and worth every penny.
Haven't used it yet. Trying to use what is in the house first. I have looked through, many of the recipes look very very good. Will add to my review when I've had more use of the recipes. Not sure of the Bulgur, tho. Never eaten it, not even sure it can be purchased in my state.
Renal Diet Cookbook for the Newly Diagnosed (Spiral Bound)
Would have been happy to pay another $5 or so, for color / pictures. Otherwise a very good book. Written by a Canadian, where they eat "Bulgar" ! Now I just have to figure out where and how to use it, more.
